I woke up at 3:30 am this morning. Is that redundant? 3:30 am…this morning? Oh well, who cares?? All I could think about was working on book number six. I’ve changed the title from One Hellacious Reckoning to A Most Wanted Man. Now I find myself wondering if I’ll change it again. Ugh. Putting that thought aside, I realize at approximately 20,000 words into it, I’ve reached the dreaded point.
Oh, I knew it was coming because it has happened with every one of the previous five books.
Rereading the beginning few pages, it’s obvious that the start of the book won’t do. It’s not catchy, it doesn’t describe enough action. It’s dull, boring. Like I said…UGH!! Usually I rewrite the beginning of a book between five and seven times. Knowing that doesn’t help.

Back to my morning. It’s a cold, rainy day in eastern South Dakota and I’ve decided to devote the day to writing. Because of so many, to use a trite phrase, issues, I’m way far behind with this book. To my dear readers whom I appreciate more than you’ll ever know – I’m sorry! Some of you know the struggles. I won’t bore the rest of you. I have a renewed passion for finishing this book, because it’s the perfect way to lose myself in my favorite alternate world. Sometimes I need that diversion.

Anyway! Since I’m going nowhere, I grabbed my favorite coffee mug and made a pour over with Hazelnut coffee, two tablespoons of heavy cream and a shot of Buffalo Trace bourbon. Breakfast never tasted so good! If you’ve haven’t tried this, you should. Here’s the obligatory PSA: Always drink responsibly.

And now, in honor of my renewed enthusiasm for the writing process, from Thursday, April 3rd through Monday, April 7th, the eBook The Rowan Milani Chronicles 1-3 will be FREE on Amazon! Here’s the link to the book. Just remember, the promotion starts on April 3rd.
ENJOY!
